So as I am waiting for the weather to warm up I have decided to work on a few things.  I want to go through the forks on my R75/5 and clean things up a bit and check everything.  I rode it over to a friends shop so I can be comfortable as my garage has no heat.

I took the front wheel off no problem, but when I started to take the steering head loose to change the bearings I found my triple tree nut only finger tight!  Maybe the reason it shook a little at highway speed.  Well got the bearings out and in thanks to the tools from http://www.northwoodsairheads.com
airhead parts and tools, and to Steve for packing the bearings.

So I powder coated the top plate a nice metallic silver,

Turned out nice I think need to install but snow is keeping me from heading back over.

I also started looking for another project and decided to go with a BMW /2 conversion.  I knew a guy in the local club had a frame hanging in his garage so I bought it over Christmas and have a Classic Project Title working on it.  In Kentucky they started this a few years ago and is working out well for me.  I did it to get the T3 on the road which was a barn find that had no title.  Two inspections, one to get a "Not for road use" title in my name, and another after I had the bike ready for the road.  I also had to be patient with the clerks office as they had  to figure out how to do it but all is done and the bike has a plate and good title if I choose to sell it.

I also have a friend who is selling me another /5 that has a salvage title to use in my project so I am putting things together.  I am looking for parts and am trying to talk with a man in Canada about updating/modifying the /2 swing arm to accept later final drives.

I need to get the tabs welded on so I can put a voltage regulator and dual coils on the /2 frame then I need to blast it and powder coat the frame.  Then I can start putting it together.  It will need everything as it sits right now it is bare, no bearings or head badge even.

I have been shopping for parts and trying to sell some things to get project money but it will be quite costly to undertake all of this, but it gets another bike on the road.

I know a few guys who break the old bikes apart and not redo them, I like the idea of redoing them but need parts from the others, so I guess it balances out.

Here are the after and before of the swing arm I bought off Ebay and used the Eastwood powder coat gun and powder.  Turned out nice in my opinion.

Okay it has been a while, over a year since the last post.  I will do better.  So what has happened since then.  I did get the brakes bled on the Guzzi T3 and still have not completed it yet.  It is ride able but not road tested enough.

I have been picking up more parts for it and have sold some other things.  I sold the Twinstar to a buddy up in Indiana so his wife could learn to ride.  I have know him for about 12 years and this spring he goes and has a massive heart attack and I won't get to see him any more.

I am down to three bikes now and it looks like they are going to be put on the back burner as we have moved to another house closer to my wife's parents.  It's 50 years old and needs some attention so I get to work on it for a while before I can get to the bikes.

I did find a tank for the guzzi and am planning on painting it so I will post the progress of that.  Right now I got it back from the Metal Cleaners which dipped it in acid to clean it on the inside and out.  I coated the interior with Dragons blood from Caswell plating which is really good stuff.

Someone had welded in metal where the badge was mounted so I have filled that in with filler and will prime it this weekend or next.

Well here it is, my first blog!  I wanted to document the thoughts and everyday junk in my head whether it be work, life, or working on motorcycles or other items with my tools.

Right now in the garage there is a 1999 Honda ACE tourer, a 1972 BMW R75/5, a 1976 MotoGuzzi T3, a snapper riding mower and a 1980 Honda Twinstar CM200.

I will chronicle the work I hope to do on the equipment when I find the time, as I am working full time and trying to complete a 2 year degree.  I would love more time to ride but that is just not happening.

Soooo, to the bikes,  Right now I am working on the 76 Guzzi that was found in a barn here in Kentucky and bought by a friend of mine.  I traded a running K75c for it and have been working on the bike when I can.  I have it running and am trying to get the linked brakes sorted out.  Seems that I can't get good pressure on the front right brake.  I have replaced the master cylinder and lines but still not getting a "tight" handle.  So last night I took the caliper loose and raised it up the master to see if the air will come out.

So I will let you know.
